Code of Conduct for any Live Training Sessions, Public Access or other Assessments
TDT UK Last updated: [16/09/2026]
Purpose To set clear, shared expectations so that every session is safe, positive, and productive for all clients, dogs, and staff.
1. For Handlers
• Arrive on time; late arrival can be unsettling for a dog already in a group setting.
• Keep dogs on lead (or as instructed) unless a trainer specifically directs otherwise.
• Follow trainer instructions promptly, especially anything safety-related.
• Treat trainers, other clients, and their dogs with respect and courtesy.
• Do not allow your dog to approach another dog or person without permission.
• Bring appropriate equipment (well-fitted lead/harness, poo bags, water) as advised for your session type.
• Inform your trainer of any change in your dog’s health, medication, or behaviour before the session starts.
• No smoking on premises/at venues [amend as relevant]; alcohol is not to be consumed before or during sessions.
2. For Dogs
• Dogs must be in good health and free from contagious illness (see Health & Vaccination Policy).
• Dogs showing signs of significant fear, stress, or aggression that a handler cannot manage may be asked to take a break or leave the session, per our Dog Removal Policy.
3. For Trainers/Staff
• We commit to using force-free, positive reinforcement methods at all times, and will not use, recommend, or knowingly permit aversive equipment (e.g., choke, prong, or shock collars) during our sessions.
• We will treat all clients and dogs with patience, respect, and without judgement.
• We will explain the reasoning behind our methods and welcome questions. TDT Canine Services UK Ltd | Company No. 12199362 | Summers Hill, Clarbeston, Pembrokeshire, SA63 4QZ www.tdtuk.co.uk | www.therapydogtraining.co.uk
• We will maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding client and dog information.
4. Zero Tolerance Abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behaviour towards staff, other clients, or dogs will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the session and/or programme, without refund, in line with our Dog Removal Policy.
5. Photography and Phones Please ask permission before photographing or filming other clients’ dogs during group sessions.
