Health & Vaccination Policy
TDT UK Last updated: [16/09/26]

Purpose To protect the health and welfare of all dogs and people attending our sessions, and to comply with our duty of care under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

1. Vaccination Requirements
• All dogs attending group classes, 1:1 sessions or assessments must be up to date with core vaccinations (DHP/DHPPi, leptospirosis) as advised by their vet, and we recommend kennel cough vaccination for any dog attending group settings.
• Puppies must have completed their primary vaccination course, or attend under specific veterinary guidance for puppy classes, before joining group sessions.
• Clients must provide proof of vaccination (a vaccination card or record from their vet) before the first session, on request.
• For 1:1 sessions in a client’s home, vaccination requirements may be more flexible but should still be discussed and agreed in advance.

2. Parasite Control We ask that dogs are on a current flea and worming programme, particularly for all our programmes which include live group training settings, assessments and any therapy/care home visits or attending public places.

3. Illness
• Dogs showing signs of contagious illness (e.g., kennel cough, diarrhoea, vomiting, visible parasites, conjunctivitis) must not attend sessions until fully recovered and, where relevant, cleared by a vet.
• Clients experiencing symptoms of a notifiable human illness should also reschedule rather than attend in person.
• We reserve the right to ask a dog or handler to leave a session if signs of illness become apparent on the day.

4. Bitches in Season Please inform us if your dog is in season, as this may affect suitability for group classes; we can advise on 1:1 alternatives during this time.

5. Ongoing Health Changes Please tell us about any new diagnosis, medication, injury, or mobility issue that could affect your dog’s participation, so we can adapt training appropriately. 6. Therapy/Assistance Visit Settings Where dogs are visiting hospitals, care homes, or schools as part of therapy or assistance dog work, additional health and hygiene requirements set by the host institution will also apply and take precedence where stricter.

This document is provided as general guidance and does not constitute or take precedent over your own veterinary advice.
